Kaka was the perfect choice.Am surprised that Messi made it to the No. 3 spot. C.Ronaldo,Fabregas,Nistelrooy and Ronaldinho were much better than Messi.
I agree Kaka is the deserving candidate, ronaldo the diving dog does not deserve no accolade. But i am surprised why messi was nominated, though he has been having a good season, but his last season was injury marred. Drogba was the rightful contender.
But I can bet my last pants that next year , it is going to be cesc fabregas who hold up the awards(all o them).

Even though Cesc Fabregas is Arsenal's driving force he is not getting chances to in starting line up of Spain national team . So he won't get it .
Honestly I expected Kaka to win. After Milan eliminated Man Utd with a hattrick from Kaka I had no doubts Kaka would take the prize home. What I dont understand is the 2nd place. Messi over C. Ronaldo? I thought the voting was based on the years performance. How can a player that was injured for 6 months, was 2nd on the spanish league and was eliminated from the champions league right after the groups, beat a wingman with 25 goals, several prises in England, 1st place on premiership, lost on the semi finals in champions league, and was undoubtedly the most consistant player throughout the entire year? Anyway, congrats to Kaka. He had a great year.

Well.. I guess its only because of Ronaldo's reputation among players and coaches who vote for this award. Many of them have quite often voiced their ire over his diving and unsportsmanship qualities, and that always goes against you in these awards.
However, I think Riquelme would have been a better choice than Messi, who dint win anything last year, and was injured most of the time. Riquelme guided Boca to the title, and wa wonderful in Copa (except for Finals).

well... this award is for last season.. not this season. Also, this season he's not played much of club footballl, but has delivered in most of the WC qualifiers with some amazing free-kicks.

Ronaldo's contributions to Man U and also to portugal in the WC was amazing...I am surprised how he was rated below Messi... But yes, even my opinion is Kaka deserves the award..

Kaka is a very disciplined man on and OFF the the field... Its not wise to compare a bad ass like ronnie with Kaka...
