I am appaled that some readers expressed their confusion while reading this article. It clearly says World Cup. It should be understood that unless any sport is specifically mentioned, by default it is 'FOOTBALL'. That is the norm in the whole world and I don't know why indian readers require a specific description.
My question to them: when an article is published on the sports section about Sachin, do you question whether is Sachin Tendulkar or Sachin Dev Burman or Sachin Khedekar. Its implied its Tendulkar. So get out of your stupid feminine cricket mindset and apply your commonsense.
It's not just rediff, it is the newspapers also which expects it's readers to have sixth sense to guess what game they are mentioning. example is The Timnes of India.
Offlate the quality of news in Rediff has dropped very much. I have been a reader of Rediff for the past 8 years, but for the past few months I am really irritated. The article never tells which game they are talking about. Except for the mention of AFC, nowhere its mentioned that India is taking on Lebenon for Football wc. Do the editor expects the readers to guess what news it is? I dont understand the role of an editor in Rediff.

Really I was unable to make out until I reached the sixth paragraph what game in the hell they are talking about. I accept that title must be brief, but at the beginning of the news atleast mention of which world cup you are talking about . You write about who is going to play whom and all that stuff, but which game???

@nice guy I know that in the heading itself it is mentioned "World Cup Qualifiers". But wc qualifiers could be for any game. 'Nice guy' give me ur rationale proving that this article is acceptable for lay-man one who has no idea of the past events happened in that particular game(until you reach the 7th para)..
India will definately do right things now...Just concentrate on one by one match. Just make sure that India scores in away match.....the results will follow... from seby fernandes-Goa
It is not difficult to reach World cup standards. The focus & training is what is required. India should focus on Football more than cricket now & we also need Corporate sponsorships. We need a young & agile Sports CEO who will look into all others sports also besides cricket & who will be accountable to a Sports Board formed of Sportspersons of various fields. . The most important thing is that Politics should be totally isolated from sports.
India is been ranked 28 BY AFC in football. They dont deserve that much. INDIA Play more games with European clubs to improve the game. The number of times u loose will make you improve. dont feel shame.
Sports minister, needs to watch all these out. xxxxers eating money after been designated.
