Hats off to my Hero Leander.... Not just this game.... He brings out his best when the chips are down.... exactly opposite to our cricket team, which breaks into pieces when faced against tough situations.
fans should show more support to other games atleast from now.
I still cant forget the tough game he won against goran ivanisevic.... when everyone wrote off... he won from an unbeleivable position.... truly he is the only player who wears the indian flag high in his chest.

Kudos to him

Do u really think there is as much pressure on Paes as there is on the cricketers? Barely a fraction of the population watch Tennis where as nearly the entire one billion plus population watch cricket. so go contemplate....

hey if the indian cricket team feels pressure about being watched by billion indians and lose to Bangladesh, they should step down because with that mentality they will never win.

Pressure is the new excuse by our Cricketers to cover their failure...don't fall for that mate.

Paes was under huge pressure when he played for the Olympics bronze medal, but he still delivered even though he was a underdog.
Remember the Davis cup match against France in France ? He was playing against all odds but still came out from tough situation.

Without any doubt, he is the best Sportsperson India has produced so far. That Moron Bhupathi is arrogant not to recognize that he developed because of Paes.

Exactly Mr.Laker, If not for Bhoopathi's arrogance of not admitting that Paes is better than him, they both could have been still playing together & would have acheived something like federer in doubles. We saw his patriotism when he denied to play davis cup for unknown reasons

completely agree with u..
He is one of the best, and very best when he plays for the country. Always better than Bhupati when represents our country.

Pressure is the wrong word used by cricketers, basically we dont know how to play as a team. I was thinking how australia might be when they loses to us... Like the way we felt we lost to Bangladesh

dear nameless...do u really watch cricket, or just read rediff reports! r us saying there is no pressure on Aus and S-Afr teams. why do they play, well. this theory of pressure being the key factor in indian cricketer's debacle is another ill-informed idea which only supports them every time they underperform. Media and more than media cricketers (both old and new) spread it to sayve there assss. dont fall for it. why hesitate to give the due credit to paes.

India has achieved a lot in cricket
World Cup,ICC Champions Trophy,World Series Championship, being the semi finalists twice
in the WC,being runners up at the 2003 WC(with almost the same team)
And just one month before the WC,they beat West Indies in an ODI series, and also
Sri Lanka
So,the Indian cricket isn't all that a failure,as it is made out to be.

Of course, Paes,Bhupathi,Sania Mirza are doing
a great job for India in tennis. Also, former players like Ramesh Krishnan,Ramanathan Krishnan,Vijay Amritraj and
Anand Amritraj have served Indian tennis well in the past
Cheers to our tennis heroes.

You are living in the past...
world cup (1983), world championship (1985). The only current victory ICC C trophy (if i remember correctly, 2002 shared with SL played in the sub continent). My point is if this sport carries so much importance, so much money then the current indian cricket team hasn't really achieved much. I really felt they had very good chance to win this world cup, but they just succumbed under pressure...

Yes, even I think,so much importance should not be given to cricket
The media should not make a single ODI victory a front page headline
In the 2001 Kolkata Test, where Harbhajan
took a hat trick, and P Gopichand won the
All England Open Badminton Championship, the next day,the papers gave half space of the front page column to Gopichand's win,and the other half to Harbhajan's hattrick
In short, they downplayed Gopichand's greater achievement in Badminton

Going right up to the finals is a great feat !
by cajetan coelho on Apr 01, 2007 11:47 AM

Congratulations to Paes and partner. The Indo-Czech duo ended as co-finalists which is a great level to be. Cricketers, footballers and hockey teams need to learn to finish as one of the top units in world events and not just be content with the so called next level joining the company of fellow minnows.

Paes almost won
by Edwin DSouza on Apr 01, 2007 09:24 AM

Its still a victory Paes. At this age you are still the best. You are improving like wine. Sadly the cricket team has become either garbage/bacteria and will probably disappear with age.
