The late Sudip Chatterjee could play in different positions which he did during his illustrious career. I loved watching him in midfield positions where he played the holding role to perfection. Shielding the backs with his timely presence he could initiate fine counter attacks creating hectic activity and panic in the rival half. Sudipda was something like the modern day Claude Makelele of Chelsea and France.
May the giver of life grant him eternal rest. Our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and to the tens of thousands who loved watching him week after week at the Maidan in Kolkata.
It is really a sad news. Fans like me who have watched Sudip Chatterjee's brilliant football cannot think or dream that he is no more. Apart from being a wonderful player he was a nice man as well. I had the opportunity to watch him closely when he played for my favourite team Mohun Bagan. Its a pity that he was not given the Arjun award when players of poor quality have received these award only because they could have the backing of a political leader like Mamata Banerjee. I pray for his soul to rest in peace and also send my condolence to his wife and children.
