I felt so bad watching the indian team play. There was not even one single move ina any of the games that could be appriciated. The team looked like some new entrent into this game with no prior experience.

Some serious steps have to be taken to make india competent at the international level.

Lament once in 4 yrs and forget...
by Satya on Sep 14, 2006 11:20 AM

Yeah once in 4 yrs there will be big tournaments and as usual India fares badly, be it olympics, cricket, hockey or anything. We will lose badly and then all our so called "greats" will come down heavily on the system and will comment about what went wrong etc. And after another 4 years we will still lose in all the sports. So why not just shut up and dont care about sports in which INDIANS are losers always. Sports has only got shame to India. We come 12th in a national sport, isnt that reason enough to remove hockey from that position and put cricket there, as that is only sport we actually are in the top 50%. Well anyways with our current approach and attitude we are not going to do well in any sport. What is wrong, Is it process, politics or sheer inability? or inadequate facilities...what?. I am sure politics ensure that deserving players dont get opportunities. I wonder in my lifetime will i see any thing positive in Indian sports. Arent we very proud of Indian Hockey..

Dear sirs,
Its once again the same old and repeated story of the national hockey team. Could we ever able to gather public attention & their opinion to overhaul the present system of functioning of Indian hockey administration? Afterall, we are fourth largest economy and second fastest growing economy of the world. Thanks

State of Indian Hockey

I seriously think that Indian hockey needs a couple of Muslim players such as Mohd Shahid, Zafar Iqbal and Aslam Sher Khan calibre. This is because I have seen them perform beyond their physical, they go all out and when they played they played for the mother-land with their heart and soul. I have not seen the same with the rest.

Poor performance

Its high time we kick KPS Gill out of IHF. We need to make sure that there is good infrastructure for the domestic games. We need to spend more money on players. We need foreign coach right now. God save Indian hockey. We need to change the national game from hockey to cricket asap. Please guys, pray Dhyan Chand is reborn again. But again, i guess its a curse from God for insulting players like Dhyan Chand, government didnt support him in the last stages. I read on rediff an interview of Ashok kumar (for people who do not know.. he is the son of Dhyan Chand) that Dhyan Chand felt humiliated because govt didnt help him out. He was invited to Munich Olympics, govt didnt provide the ticket cost and he couldnt make it purely for financial reasons. Its a shame!!!!!! Dhyan chand also didnt want his children to play hockey. Its a disgrace to be a sportsman in India.
