Need a coach from Australia
by Murthy on Sep 10, 2006 08:21 PM

Fans lost interest in following the game as Indian team is losing game after game.

Its time to bring a coach from Australia, who are supposed to be mentally tougher compared to most when it comes to sports. Rick Charlsworth showed keeness to coach Indian team, but people at the helm have their own vested interest. Its time to try something different. We need to enforce the same discipline regardless of what stature a player holds, which was aptly demonstrated by Chappel. Also, his coaching is not confined to skills or fiteness alone but following a process and show 200% commitment. Ofcourse, we should have patience of atleast 3-4 years before we can see the results.
Also the same coaching standards to be applied at junior level as they are the ones to graduate to senior level sooner or later.

It is the same result with a bunch of talented dribblers winding around endlessly and not looking at openings and not willing to go beyond just being there.Coaches have come and gone and all of them seeming to sound like true desciples of the PROVERBIAL PARROT.Must have, could have, did not have, perhaps, alas, bad luck, half chances, just misses, against run of play, lack of cohesion, bad day., seem to be any reporter's reckoner list while mailing his match report after each INDIA outing for quiet a long period now.Coach Bhaskaran must not continue if the players do not respond in the field to his lessons outside it;in any case he has a very limited and stretch goal of just a podium finish, and no daring to challenge the depressing trend and he should know he understands this team the best and will not expect anything more.He is very DEFENSIVE(he had defended well for India when he played)Let he not waste his time with this bunch of aged youth.,lacking in drive, pride, basics and above all GAME PLAN.Accountability in Hockey is not at all visible and everyone involved is only seen moving from venue to venue making MONEY and MOCKERY out of THE INDIAN SPORT.

Total disappointment from India
by Madhu K.M. on Sep 10, 2006 02:01 PM

It is totally embrassing to watch india getting defeated by England and drawn with SA after their thrilling performance against Germany.

As coah Baskaran said, the indian teams inability to survive lasy dying minutes is the problem to overcome.

This time defence had done a comparitively good job except kamalpreet singh. Dilip & Prabodh had done a good job. however their good job totally wasted by Kamalpreet. The absense of Sandeep Singh is felt looking at penalty corner conversions. As a die hard fan of hocky my suggestion to Coach Baskarn is that, he should develop more penalty corner specilists. Gagan Aji Singh is a total failure in the forward line and do not deserve a place in the squad. I feel utlization of Raj Pal Singh, Hari prasad need to be increased for swift movement over the wings.
