Politics killing the game
by Hawaii on Nov 28, 2006 01:53 AM

These so called selectors with contingent and vested interests are killing the game. The game of hockey in India has been completely ruined by people like KPS Gill and others.

He should be in
by Zubin on Nov 28, 2006 12:17 AM

This is no way to treat Viren. The best half in the entire team. The most hardworing guy who palys both on the half line and falls back in defence too. Hockey in India is going to the dogs. And this is the way it\'s being done. See for urself. The best guys get the stick.

One more case
by Joel on Nov 27, 2006 11:33 PM

Reading Viren's recent omission episode, one cant feeling sick about the selection and promotion of sports talent in India. Vested interests first get on the boards of sport bodies then slowly but surely start the politics to put themselves in control of the board. It is sad to see so many young budding talents across various sports going for a waste. I strongly urge the sports minister of India to look after this issue and get Viren in the hockey team ASAP.

Viren deserves a place in the team
by Neil D\'Souza on Nov 27, 2006 11:26 PM

For the past few years, Viren has been the most consistent players in the national team. It has indeed been a privelege to watch right from his school days. Him being dropped without any justification being provided is indeed ridiculous. We stand by Viren in his demand for reasons for his expulsion. We hope that good sense prevails and that he joins the squad in the upcoming tournament.

It is good that Viren has called for the press confernce. We need transperancy on whatever we do esp in sports. He can file a "Right to Information" case against the IHF.

If viren is included later in this Doha games, he should do extermally well otherwise the IHF will justify its stand

viren's exclusion from the hockey team
by ashley on Nov 27, 2006 10:33 PM

It is indeed very very surprising to see Veirn out of the Indian Hockey team for Doha. He has been one of the most consistent performer in the Indian hockey team recently. I think the reason for his exclusion should be made public.

Viren we are with you
by ravi on Nov 27, 2006 10:29 PM

Viren
we are with you. Fight it out with the people who are destroying hockey in India. Can any selector please explain why such a committed and talented player has been dropped? You are responsible and accountable to Indians and you should explain. All that this guy is seeking is an explanation. Not only he but Indian hockey lovers need to know it.

YOU DESERVE IT
by pk thakur on Nov 27, 2006 09:40 PM

Dear Viren
You are doing a really good work by asking a que.
It may be good to test someone else but not at this cost. Selectors please wake up and start living for the national interest

We've got to support Viren
by piyush on Nov 27, 2006 09:26 PM

We simply have to take it up for Viren in any and every forum we can if we want to save hockey, nay sport in India from the clutches of the selfish administrators who run them. My suggestion to Viren or to anyone who can muster the time and will would be to file a PIL on any of the million reasons of negligent administration that these sports bodies are guilty of, as a community we should support with time and money any such move. Concrete steps like these are the only way out. Pressure the administrators under the Right To Information act and force them to get their act together.
