Vilas definitely reacted rudely on having lost his record. Rafael Nadal now holds the record, and he truly deserves it-for how long can anyone lie themselves? Wasn't it Nadal after all who was called "the King of Clay"?
At 19, he truly deserves this title-he even went through tough spots and injuries. He has humbled even Roger Federer...There's no point in denying that this teen star IS destined for greatness!

Nadal makes new record in clay

That is very unsporting of Vilas to comment like that. He is behaving like a child if he is really said so. On his way to make the record Nadal has to beat Federer more than once and FedEx is considered as one of the best ever player. Vilas should also remember that the level of competetion is much higher nowadays than that of his playing days in '70s. Records are for breaking. Congratulate Nadal and enjoy his play.

ps. Though in a different news I read that Guillermo Vilas actually presented a trophy to Nadal after he won his first round match in French open to stretch his winning streak to 54 matches in clay. Bit of a conflicting news these two are.
