Another Anna Kournikova in the making ...this time from India ( until she proves me wrong ) The media is to be blamed for making mountains from mole hills,I still dont remmember any great achiement from Sania other than a loss to Serena Williams
She has still long way to go to prove her talent. i dont remember her doing good in any of the grand-slams. We in india hyped to much for her so little achievements in tennis.I wish she learns and bounce back quickly.
What is so new in the news of Sania crashing out of Grand Slams? She has been overhyped so much by the media in the last few years that we Indians were led to believe that we have a champion after all. The embarassing regularity with which she crashes out of international ATP tournaments including the Grand Slams makes us wonder if she really has it in her to compete with the best guys in tennis.
Sania is just a media created phenomenon. She sells herself purely on PR initiatives. Her game has much left to be desired. She is fast turning out to be like Anna Kournikova who was known more for her looks than her game.
Let us stop kidding ourselves that we have national champion here. Stop wasting reams of print and webspace on a fast fading sportsperson.

This is in response to the criticism levelled against sania. For starters, the draw she got for the second year in a row was tough.Playing against the seventh seed is no joke.Last year her opponent in the first round was svethlana kutzetsnova,it seems that she ends up playing top seeds very early inspite of being in the top40.we can also not turn a blind eye to the fact that she is coming off aan injury, and the most important of all is that she fought till the end(I happened to be a spectator.)Its time we indians stop rediculing our own starts, three cheers to sania and also siana nehwal , the latest batminton sensation.
