Ronaldo looks good for some more years in top football.

Watching Ronaldo's running, trapping, dribbling, body feints, heading and shooting on the run, one feels tempted to believe that there is plenty of top football yet to come from his boots. In every match that he has played so far there has been a marked improvement. With further motivation and hunger, the all time great scorer could figure in the next World Cup four years from now. Many among us love watching the finishing skills of this gifted striker from the land of Samba and sunshine.

Over the years some of us witnessed a few Ronaldo like attributes in our local stars in Goa. For speedy runs and quick finish from outside the box, the late Nanda Gaad of Dempo Sports Club impressed us. Nanda could get the match winner in the first five minutes of the game. Indian international Francis D'Souza of Dempo's and later a prominent goal getter for the Kolkota clubs brought his mind, heart and feet into his top class finish. In later years striker Dionisio Trinidade scored gorgeous goals in style.

To many of us in Goa, the last decent striker of true class has been Camilo Gonçalves whose strike rate has not been matched by our recent stars. Brazil and Ronaldo can inspire our boys.
