Tough Wimbledon opener for Sania
by Nirpinder Singh on Jul 01, 2006 06:22 PM

Sania has said recently that any top ten player has the potential to humiliate a lower ranking player on Court. This is a defeatist attitude. The humiliation that would be inflicted on a top ten player by losing to a lower ranked player would be worse. It would be more proper to say that any lower ranked player has the potential to humiliate a top ten player by playing better than expected. It seems that Sania is satisfied to play well enough to stay in the Public Eye. Do we have the makings of an Indian Anna Kournikova, who is known more for her looks than her Tennis? Sania is all over the TV, Print Ads, and Billboards. One is reminded of the days when there was a plethora of advertising featuring Indian Cricket players. This coincided with atrocious on field play by all of them. Now that the advertising has subsided the Cricketer's are doing better on the field. Could Sania have forgotten her true purpose in starring in all of these endorsements. I am sure that they are quite lucrative, so perhaps she does not need to work quite as hard as a player who truly desires to do better

It doesnt matter, anyways she will loose, telling now its her left knee making here loose. She's consistely loosing the recent ties, irrespective of the opponents.High time Sania mirza, the so called youth Sensation(!) of india, to concentrate on downsizing the doublefaults and outof the court returns which r in surplus by now, rather than gvng ads for HP Club or Tata Tea or Tata Telecom et.,

Gvn a sincere effort, and less media hype, she can do it,will she!?
