Spain's always been underachievers in the past world cups. The spaniards have started well this time around and are peaking at the right time. I sincerely wish they enter the semis. Tough opposition awaits them in the next round. It remains to be seen whether they can shed the UNDERACHIEVER tag this time.
We have seen spain score goals in their group matches. But they haven\'t come up against quality opponents. Like England had Sweden and paraguay in theur group. It all depends upon how well hey cope up with the pressure IF they reach the finals whcih I think they cannot. Even though the favourites are less impressive they will strike at the correct time to do justice to their tag.
well just having a glimpse @ wt da results hv been in da wrld cup....spain n argentina luk like teams which r talking a lot of business....they hv earned big victories against formidable oppositions...unlike big guns like brazil, england, germany, holland n czech who all were a lil dwn n out..
In my earlier list, Brazil, Spain, Ecuador and Australia were the contenders for winning the World Cup this time. I would like to add Ghana in that list. The Czech Republic Vs. Ghana was the best game so far.

Hey Morris, That depends on the style sheet. many newspapers carry sports teams as plural. By your logic 'India win Test against England' would also be wrong, which it isn't. If you want to go deeper, publications which call their section 'Sport' use teams as singular, while those that name their section 'Sports'carry teams as plural. Moral of the story, this is a World Cup message board, don't show off your (half-baked) knowlledge of the language :)
The perpetual underachievers in spite of abundent talent is peaking at right time -2006 world cup. If spain continue to play the same form at least a Semi final slot is guaranteed.
