I think we should stop refering people who were not born in India and never held Indian citizenship as Indian.
People like Amar Bose, Vikash Darasoo, VS Naipul they hardly have any connection to India other than some Bollywood movies.
I got friends from the Fiji-Indian and South African Indian population and then do not refer to themselves as Indians but Fijians and South Africans.
Plus i think we should stop basking in glory of people of indian ethnicity and look for heros amongst true indians ie those who were born in india or hold indian citizenship.
It was very nice to see Vikash play and my wishes to him for more laurels. But i would like to know, if he is really an indian? Does he go around telling he is an Indian? Why is the author referring to him as an indian? Does it mean that a person of any nationality becomes an Indian if he has Indian Origin?
But why should we refer to people who hold citizenship or nationality of another country an INDIAN just because he / she has an indian origin.
Are we short of people? or are we trying to console ourselves that an Indian was not able to make it...
Cant india with a population of over 1.1 billion produce some footballers like dhorasoo??? its shame that we dont have representation at football worldcup......
I wish we in India get over this hangup of mentioning INDIAN anywhere and everywhere.Dharasoo IS FRENCH.And because he is FRENCH he plays the way he does.No newspaper in France EVER calls him Indian, and WHY should they anyway. So stop begging questions.
Vikash Dhorasoo, the lone Indian in WC, playing for France missed a golden chance of scoring for his team in the dying moments of the game. Had he done that, he would have made history ! It was agreat pity. K. Mallick
The PSG supporter is just a frustated peanut seller in the metro who cannot share the field with Dhorasoo. Zidane is from Algerian parents and Thierry Henry has black african ancestors, so Dharosoo has all his chance in the French team and this is thanks to his great talent. This is not the skin colour that matters but the skills of the players and the pleasure of the audience!!
