Hey everyone: I had a couple of questions about the marathon, which I have written to the official Mumbai marathon folks and have not heardfrom them. I have run the full New York City Marathon and did it in 5hrs and 32 minutes. It seems from the Mumbai marathon one has to complete by 5 hrs is that true and after that if we have to b on the pavemnt would it not be difficult with all the traffic. Alsowhat time does the actuall marathon start? and do they haev water on the road. Another DUMB question how safe is it for women to run alone. And does anyone know if I have to run for a charity or I can just run because Mumbai is when I was born, and it will be awesom to run my Desh's Marathon. thanks so much for your help. Kamala
I ran the half marathon in 2 hours and 36 minutes. The certificate says 25 in my age class. I am just short of 50 years. The organisers must have published the full list of persons who completed the full marathon and half marathon. For the recent Singapore Marathon, the full lists are available on the net.
For a marathon event, the number of persons who complete the marathon, and the number of persons who completed marathon for the first time are important information. More and more marathons are organized to create more and more marathon runners. But unfortunately all the media coverage is being given to the top three or four athletes forgetting the new entrants into the marathon club. I hope this neglect is recognised by the organisers and the media.
I have been runing the marathon since the last 3 yrs...ANd i have felt that the Number of JUNTA turning up for cheering has gone down tremendously...THe enthu & JOSH of the ppl is missing...I knw it takes alot to take time out of ones busy schedule and stand there from early morning to 1pm but still we can do that for a day..Kudos to the ppl who came to RUn And spcially to the ppl who came out chering for all the runners...As for the arrngnents; they were better than the last 2 yrs..
Last year when (i.e in 2005) as i ran the marathon i vowed that in the comming year i will be involved with the SCB Marathon in a much larger way. This year i carried out a part of insurance for the SCB Mumbai Marathon 2006.
Dare to dream, is what the Mumbai Marathon tells to each of us.
well this year's marathon was my first.on the last two occasions i missed it due to some reasons.but this time i had to run and i did run.it was unbelievable that 20000 ppl run for fun and unknowingly help so many ppl through charity.i was enjoying the dream run so much that i wanted it to last for a long long time.so that was it.i m waiting for one year to go for it again."Run Mumbai Run"
The spirit of Mumbai more than anything amazed me. People of all age group, participating with excitement and joy. Most of the people didnt had the stamina to complete the race, still they walked and enjoyed the atmosphere and finished the dream run.
yes, it was great experience. i ran for dream run i.e. 7kms. my company had organised the registration for me. more than 40 people from my organisation had participated in dream run. next year we r planning to go for half marathon. & i m sure than this no. will increase next year.
