We need to look for more talent from among the rising stars in our new and emerging hockey belt. The Tiggas, Horos, Dangs, Kullus, Ainds, Kichingias, Baruas, Xaxas, Kiros, Kongaris and others along with those whom we already know can bring in the desired freshness in our hockey. Areas like Pathalgaon, Umaria, Dhanwar, Jashpur, Jhingo, Bhilaspur, Hazaribagh, Sitagarh, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Bokaro, Gumla, Jamshedpur, Tepasai, Tundi, Tumudibandha, Patra, Mahuadanr, Kajarkilo, Jamuniatand, Chiropath, Charhi, Balidih, Rourkela, Raiganj, Sahibganj, Chaibasa, Dhanbad, Rengra, Tundi, Ambikapur, Kunkuri, Boreya, Dhurwa, Khunti, Lohardaga, Rengarih, Samtoli, Soso, Tongo and numerous other villages in Jharkhand, Orissa, Eastern Madhya Pradesh and districts in West Bengal keep on producing talented hockey players every year. Our selectors need to unearth talent from those regions. Starting of National Hockey Academies would be another step in the right direction. For cricket, football and tennis they say the academies are doing well. If we are to compete well against the likes of the Netherlands, Australia, Germany and Spain, we need to look for players from areas hitherto less or unexplored.
