About your article today on Shiva Keshavan, I fail to understand why you are so negative: "finished a modest 25th" in the men's singles luge event in Turin. A sport like luge requires highly technical equipment and training, which are not yet provided in India. 25th at the Olympic Games is an excellent result for young Shiva Keshavan.
The media has pumped up Sania Mirza, a tennis player of good quality no doubt but who has eventually failed to impress. Tennis is a popular sport in India and good equipment is easy available.
If Sania Mirza is a "heroin" why should not Shiva be a "hero"?
Unless of course the media forgot what sport is and reduced it to glamour and sex appeal.

The sole Indian entrant at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics, Keshavan had caught the attention of American media 4 years ago at the Salt Lake City Olympics, even though his exploits barely hogged headlines back home.
Rediff, is it for the sportman to make headlines or for the media?
Look the sad way you commented on his 25th place. 25th at the Olympic Games in a sport unheard in India! Not good enough for you? Pehaps he should move to America then!
