Yes but it has not gone down the drains

The Indian Hockey is in turmoils and over the years the situation has gone from bad to worse. Its very clear that the management (Gill and his bunch of gang) are never held accountable for the pathetic state and its always players who have to bear the brunt. Why the sports ministry is keeping mum over the issue. Are they scared of Mr. Gills dictatorial ways and be happy to let him do what ever he wants to do with the Indian Hockey. I have seen some of the development programs followed in western universities in field hockey and to be honest I feel India is at least 10 years behind. The way our so called national sports is run and managed, I dont see any future for Indian hockey despite presence of so many natural talents to our disposal.

Sack Gill!
by harnish on Feb 19, 2006 03:14 AM

I agree with most of my fellow mates, Gill shud be the FIRST one to be
sacked! Wat kinda decision is to drop one of the top players in world
hockey in Gagan Ajit! Hard to digest. As it is India is losing out the
youngsters to cricket at hockey's sacrifice. This is not the right
example to set. If India wants to have a say in world hockey, outright
changes are needed right away! And it should be started with the
sacking of none other than Gill, who has been holding the IHF post
for yrs now, w/o doing anythin sizeable for Indian hockey!

Gill should be sacked first
by Raghu on Feb 11, 2006 10:12 PM

Really in india there is no proper treatment to the players. First of all the chief Gill should be sacked instead of good experienced players like Gagan Ajith singh etc,

Gagan Ajit Singh is the world class hockey player
by Rajnish Bajaj on Feb 11, 2006 07:50 PM

This is very sad news abt not including the four main international players for pak series and commonwealth games melbourne. This the biggest wrong decision even taken by IHF.

IHF selection process
by Aditya on Feb 09, 2006 05:05 PM

the burecracy in the indian system is so deeply ingrained that it affects everything and the national interests are never kept foremeost by theses so called national guardians of hockey. The PHL was a clear indicator of the performance of the players and any person who watched it through with a little bit of common sense would put 2 and 2 together and come out with the best of the team. how can some one like Viren be ignored?? If this is the way the old useless men of IHF would tavkle Indian hockey we would remain doomed.. Is someone listening ?

Indian Hockey in the doldrums
by Nitin Ullal on Feb 09, 2006 11:46 AM

First and foremost if Indian Hockey has to improve all the ex players should get together and throw both KPS Gill and Jyothikumar out. They just dont know head nor tail of hockey
Chopping of players will not help the purpose as the team has to be together for a couple of years.
There are so many good coaches in India like Joaquim Carvalho,MM Somaya,Merwyn Fernandes who will command respect from the players which is very important as they can converse very well to the players which player like Rajinder Singh Jr cant and the respect that he is getting from the players.
Play Dhanraj Pillay as a schemer who is still good and was a threat to teams on the ongoing PHL where players who are currently in the team cant cope with him.He was the best player on view.
By droping these players Mr Gill is doing the biggest mistake and he has got a lot of ego problem.
Wishing the very best to the Indian team for the Pakistan series and the Commonwealth games.
This is the right time to unite together and throw these useless guys on top if we want to stand anywhere in world hockey

Sack Gill, Jyotikumaran at the first place
by Dhyan Chand on Feb 04, 2006 07:19 PM

RIP: Untill KPS Gill and Jyotikumaran are at the helm of IHF, Indian hockey will not seel the light of the day. So will be promising players who get dropped like hot potatoes -- Amen!
