Paes keeps making comments before media, after the doubles break up with Mahesh. He should show some discretion there is no use crying over old issues.
Also, it takes two hands to clap, if Bhupathy could not hold serve (what did Paes do with his serve????).
Also, as Doubles players Paes and Bhupathy are no longer a major force (even as individuals) their ranking has plummeted, faster than a MIG-21.
Its time both of them hung their boots and let fresh talent come through, this selfish behaviour by sportspersons to latch on to national duty (for monetary gains is not a new phenomenon).
(The shining example of this is the Indian cricket team where the old players well close to their mid 30's in age still want to remain in the team to milk more money).

Mahesh's ego
by sushant on Dec 06, 2006 05:10 PM  | Hide replies

Bhupathi's ego has been hurt due to Paes taking away Sania for mixed doubles. He is now taking revenge by giving away matches he should have won. He is acting very childish

Exactly my point! This is not about Nandan Bal or Paes taking potshots at Hesh. Its more than that. Look at the history of these 2 guys. They were wildly successful when they were 'nobodies'. They had the passion and the drive to win, which led to their string of successes in the Grand Slams. But once they achieved the 'stardom', their egos started flying higher than they ought to have. Result? Neither of them has achieved the same level of success individually than they did together. What has resulted in the meantime is a lot of gossip for the media. They have to have something to write about correct?

Another user commented about the pride one has to take in representing one's country. I could nt have said it any better. Its after all a great privilege to represent more than a billion people. And here's Hesh before the start of the games threatening to withdraw from the competition and not represent India anymore cos Sania is paired up with Paes in the mixed doubles. I say for an attitude such as his, chuck him out. Ban him from representing India ever. Anyways, I ain't just picking on Hesh, but the whole crop. You gotta have folks representing you who really want to represent u.

Paes blames Bhupathi
by bhabesh porel on Dec 06, 2006 12:08 PM

Blaming justified....

When commitment is missing from an individual of international repute and injury or form are not the causes for lacklusture performance, the frustration essayed by Leander Paes is justified. Nobody should be allowed to let the country down, by taking part in a match and surrendering meekly. It could very well be termed as betrayal and toying with the sentiment of fellow countrymen.

Sir: I dont understand why people like Leander give unnnecessary statements against their colleages. I think they go public just to make their name. It should be solved between themselves. This was a doubles game. I dont know what did Leander play his part in this game. I suggest him not give any excuses.

The very reason Leander keep's blabbering to the media foolishly without knowing what he is saying is the reason why he lost the company of Bhupathy and Mahima chaudhary and landed up signing up for an 'ART OF LIVING COURSE'.
It seems the course has made no difference to his foolish statements, one doesnt need to be a qualified psychiatrist to find the strange flip/flop attitude of Paes (here also he is blaming Bhupathy and eventually he is claiming it was his worst performance (now isnt that a contradiction???)).
Paes needs to get the cobwebs that have settled in his brain clouding his vision cleared, otherwise he will continue making a fool of himself.

Sir:
We are back to our favourite Indian Pasttime!!!!
Scapgoating!!!! The fall guy this time is Mahesh Bhupati. One of the most respected, talented and honest Tennis doubles player in the world today.

To accuse him of lack of committment is indeed a sad joke!!!! How can the likes of Nandan Bal---A big flunky compared to Mahesh even comment upon Mahesh's performance. Nandan should know where to draw the line. Nandan never was, can never be and shall never be a Patch on Mahesh Bhupati.

In cricket the scapegoat is Chappell, In hickey it is K P S Gill, in tennis it is Bhupati and Sania, so on and so on.

It is hightime, we, Indians stopped this favourite past time of find scapegoats

This is really shameful for Indian tennis.Playing for our cuntry must be an honour. Not everyone got such a chance. Why Mahesh is not showing enough commitment and eager to represent the nation. No one can deny the commitment of Leander. There are various examples indicating his eager in representing India like Atlanta Olympics,Davis Cup Mathes etc. Can anyone forget that do or die clash against Pak at Bombay. As tennis player Mahesh is equal or better than Leander. But as an Indian player Mahesh is far far behind Leander.Lets pray for God to make Mahesh serious in representing INDIA.Please avoid dirty issues like Sania as teammate.

I don't agree with you. Its not what some Nandal Bal said something, but Leander Paes also said the same thing. At least no one can question this guys commitment for his Country over the years. I am not saying Mahesh doesn't have nay commitment for India but something must have gone wrong, its not just the case of scapegoat!

No, we should not only stop this "scapegoating" (!) but basically we should stop competing in sports. Unless a player pays for themselves and gets re-imbursed only on winning a medal, we would see this kind of approach and keep on paying more for everyday items because of the lucrative endorsement deals which is the only thing the players are after. They are not after medals, laurels and moreover love for the country. I am not blaming the players and officials for trying to make hay when the sun is shining, I am blaming the Indian populace in general as a whole which allows this fiasco in every sport to go on and ends up spending more money on toothpaste and soap just because of the endorsement money that drives the prices of these items above the reach of common man (and no, please do not tell me everyone in Bangalore or even any IT company for that matter makes 25 lakh per annum and hence they afford everything). Common man in India does not care about medals in Asiad but a proper living condition with food, water, electricity etc. STOP wasting money on these useless things.
