The media, most of the time, places a person on a pedestal even before he has proven himself. One example is the way Greg Chapell was projected as though he was the saviour of Indian cricket even before a match was played. A prominent newscaster keeps parrotting that Greg is one of the brightest minds in cricket. It may be true, but it has to be substantiated too. Sania Mirza is another example. She just wins a few matches and straightaway the attention she receives (from media) is extraordinary. Sania will have to have a very firm head on her young shoulders if she is to fulfill her potential.
