Government Help to Sania
by Manoj on Oct 19, 2005 04:32 PM

I agree with Sports Minister of AP. Sania does not need any financial help from Government. She is now well known player and can help herself.

I feel that Sania must give that money back, which she got as a help in past. Sania must become Government's Asset, not Government's Liability.

Sanis is already rich
by habibul islam on Oct 19, 2005 04:30 PM

Sania is already too rich. Then why to spend public fund for her? It does not sound good for a provery stricken country like us. Govt has done enough to bring her to this level. Now she is a pro who really can fund 10 players. Something she should return to the country.

AP minister is absolutely correct

I fully endorse the view with the AP minister as she is the next player to Sachin as on date with regard to endorsement fee.
Instead the AP govt should provide the provisionary money for the tennis institute to hyderabad by way of infrastructire development, budding players for abroad coaching or hire a foriegn coach.
You do not give one who has plenty but to one who needs it

sania is great
by mariano on Oct 19, 2005 03:33 PM

sania is really great. In a country where importance is given to cricket, this girl has done wonders in tennis and that to in India where women are not allowed to express themselves easily. The govt. should provide everything to help her it may financially or anything else this will boost not only sania but also other women.

Public Fund for One-Woman Industry?
by kanaka on Oct 19, 2005 03:25 PM

Kudos to AP Sports Minister Mr. M Satyanarayana Rao for his statement that Sania does not neet govt. help.Indeed, he's right when he said that infact she is a position to give us. She earns enough revenues through endorsements & here she is bracketed with Sachin Tendulkar(Time magazine).

Sania is an established "professional" tennis player. When has she represented the country in an international event like the Federation Cup and Olympics to continue to seek State funds or tax-payers hard-earned money?

Unlike the chairman AP Sports Authority's proposal, the government should continue to help budding sports persons from any field (not necessarily tennis)who are in dire need of financial assistance.

By the way,Anju Bobby George is currently world no.2 in long jump.Is anybody listening?

Support to sports persons

What AP Sports Minister is true. Today Sania can manage on her own. At the same govt. should spend more on the sports and Sports persons who are need of funds for their training.

Its a laudable thing to stop funding Sania
by Krishna Sundar on Oct 19, 2005 02:32 PM

I wonder how media wants to take every comment in a negative way, what is the big deal if a minister says that the taxpayer's money is not to be distributed if not donated to a professional player who has already won enough commercial contracts to promote her career.

The money that you want to give her can be utilized in a best way than this, as there are still a lot of talented players both in tennis as well as in other sports who are desparately looking for their expenses to get a international sporting experience.

Stop commenting negatively if some body wants to take a wise decision to utilize the public money in a more optimized way. It is the best time for Sania too to stop begging money from a government to meet her expenses then only she can retain her pride, remember what happened to Sachin when he claimed for Tax excemption when he got a Ferrari and he faced the public wrath.
