As a State team Maharashtra has often come up with quality players for the yearly Santosh Trophy. In the not so distant past internationals like goalkeepers Bandya Kakade, Mustafa, Irenio Vaz, Henry, Bangera were safe and serious between the goal posts.

Multi-talented players like Ranjit Thapa, Gurung, Ratan Thapa, Amar Bahadur, Alphonso, Derrick, Arthur, Bernard, Joseph Antao, Santosh Kashyap, Aqil Ansari, Godfrey, Evariste, Jacinto were some of those who made Maharashtra famous at the national and international levels.

The current set of players representing Maharashtra have shown decent improvement in their last four or five outings in Kerala. There is plenty of talent in that vast state. We look forward to seeing more and more soccer players from Maharashtra in our national and international tournaments.

The coming semifinal against hosts Kerala will provide yet another opportunity for the visitors to test their strength against the current holders of Santosh Trophy.

We wish the two sides a fine outing and an enjoyable evening of top class soccer for the thousands of viewers and supporters of the two well matched outfits.
