Under the towering leadership of coach Jan Ceulemans and the watchful eyes of Franky van der Elst, Clube Bruges has been making steady progress in the Champions League and in the Belgian National League. The well known former Clube Bruges duo and Belgian all time greats are doing well this year.

Last night's victory against Rapid Vienna, the multi-faceted Clube Bruges did well to gather three precious points and remain in contention for a berth in the next round of Champions or UEFA Cup competitions.

Three brilliant goals by three strikers, Portillo, Bosco Balaban and the highly experienced Geert Verheyen undid the fine work of the skillful Austrian side who put up a brave show by scoring a gem of a goal in the very first minute of the enthralling encounter at the picturesque Jan Breydel stadium in the historic Belgian city in West Flanders.

Clube Bruges is loaded with talent and if the boys play to their potential, they could make waves in the coming encounters against other fellow giants in Europe.

Players of foreign origin like goalkeeper Butina, Leko, Spillar, Balaban, and Portillo have delivered well with the passionate Fleming Geert Verheyen at the helm.
