IHF is responsible for sorry state of affairs with Indian hockey. The officials have ruined the career of many good players because they could not satisfy their ego. What is is the point of making the retired government officialsthe head of the games..They try to find their lost empire in sport fields and satisfy their egos by humilating the top players of the game. What is the point of sending experimental team to international tournaments? Why not the best players at the perticular point of time represent the country?
Dhanraj Pillai is one of the most exciting player in hockey and can be compared with best in the world. he has been sidelined on one pertex or the other from representing the country by these officials!
It is a national shame and government by appointing corrupt officials, is responsible for it.

Indian Hockey

The Raj of K.P.S.Gill and persons like him should be abolished in order to improve Indian hockey. I cannot understand the contribution of this type of people? For a long time, I have been observing the standard of Indian hockey, which also indicates the abilities of these people. Moreover, the government of India should make a National Plan for the game/sports and should focus on some selected sports (preferably among those which are included in Olympics) considering the financial limitation. There is a vast population with immense potentialities, who need only proper support to flourish. In fact, India is a sleeping giant. Anyway, whatever facility is existing, that also is utilized in a wrong way by different powerful officials who have actually no passion about the game (they are earning money/salary and enjoying life like common people); and very little portion may be going to the game itself.

President's rule on IHF
by anupam shukla on Jul 08, 2005 05:28 PM

It is high time the President of India took steps to save the national sport from the clutches of a few self-proclaimed chiefs.Jyoti kumar and KPS Gill are manipulating the rules to their benefit and to keep their chairs intact. In the ensuing muscle-mania, a lot of good players are on the sidelines, helplessly watching Indian hockey go down the drain.
The foreign coach fiasco is a case to point.Dr.APJ kalam should use all the missiles in his armoury to stamp out the menace of politics from the game and make it clean and exciting.

President Kalam's call now.
by vinod on Jul 08, 2005 05:23 PM

I respect our president so much, with all dignity and honesty he has to the people of india, he should look into this matter and take down those criminal office bearers to the court of law.

there is a saying, "Speaking about great and good things, and not showing them on your results will make u shame in your life".

i hope our president is different from that, he has said moral values for mankind, this is a chance for him to show that to indian public how honest and sincere he was in saving the democratic needs of people.

jaihind.

Make them acountable
by Neeraj on Jul 08, 2005 04:45 PM

I think, the officials of the hockey fed. and olympic associations must be made more accountable for the performance. We must have independent evaluating agencies to regulate the various boards. You just cannot have idiotic dictators behave haughtily and get away with it.
besides, there should be a limit on the maximum number of terms that an official can hold.
Moreover, only ex-olympians, players should be allowed to hold decision making posts in such organisations.

Need to revamp the administration for sports in India
by Kashyap on Jul 08, 2005 04:26 PM

We are very much delighted that the issue was taken up to the First Citizen of the country.Though he is a nominal head, he can assure the aspiring sports persons the best they can get.It is very bad to see that the prime ministers office is not worried about the conditions prevailing in Indian sports.
