Paris had the best plan and best bid and were the favourites to win the bid all of the last 18 months. Their public support (above 85%), their transport system and the venues (most of them already present) are much better compared to London's. I live in London and you simply can't believe the state the public transport is here. You can hardly compare the speed, punctuality, frequency and state of the buses and underground trains to the developing countries, let alone developed countries, which UK happens to be. Moreover, most of the venues of London's bid is in paper, still long way from materialising and I know from living here that even small projects go many times over schedule and over budget in this country. So, I'm very sceptic about massive projects live Olympic Village and Olympic stadium being completed in time. And, this whole thing is going to be a big burden on the already much tired taxpayers, Londoners most of all, as we'll have to foot most of the Olympics bill. So, my heart bleeds when I see a more deserving candidate, Paris, being overtaken by London, mostly by last minute lobbying by Blair, and Beckhams charms, and a slicky hour long presentation from London.
