There are some fine teams outside the 10-team format .

The Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Mumbai's Golden Gunners, State Bank of Travancore, Vasco Sports Club, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Churchill Brothers, Eveready Sports and Tolly are very impressive sides and showed their skill and enormous potential.

Lovers of football would have been happy to see atleast some of these talented teams rubbing shoulders against the best in the country.

Our disciplined Army Eleven would certainly add a variety and surprise element to the NFL with their robust brand and multi-pronged counter attacking style.

For a country of over a billion inhabitants the ten team format looks too small. It is said that leagues in Malta, Cyprus, Andorra, San Marino, Luxembourg, Scotland, Wales, Fiji and in those far off and remote regions, they have formats like the one in the second most populous country on the planet.

It is surprising to note that the parent organization for football in our country is trying to imitate the Football Associations of the above mentioned leagues.

If the game has to grow and become popular among players and masses in our vast country, could such a format be an ideal way of proceeding ?

Best wishes to our AIFF.
