Such articles does nothing but brings false hopes to millions of people accross the country. Hope that this time we will get a gold in Olympics. People wait for that special moment and all the hopes are shattered on the final day when they find that their so called heroes were far from the the Best three.
Regarding Anju, media had projected her as if she will sure shot bring a medal this time. While it was quite known that her best was at least 0.1 meter less that what the top 4 girls are doing in practice attempts.
Therefore, do not say she will bring a medal in Beijing unless she starts jumping more that what the current champions are able to. It has started giving the feeling that one gets by comming accross cheap-evening newspapers having attractive headlines which actually mean NOTHING.
Anju has been a very good athlete. But one can not rule out that she can not win medals unless she jumps over 7 meters, which is impossible at this age ( please consider the improvement in her jumps over the years). I feel , she should pass on the experience to new comers, while she continues to improve. Prepare a next generation athlete for the future.Sports authority should seriously consider this, not just beating the drums over her past achievements. Appreciate the past, Prepare for the future.
