the vishy anand interview was, speaking overall was nice. anand finds the olympiad format bit too long. true, but the chess olympiad is both a tournament and in reality, a chess carnival, bringing bothe chess minnows and chess dinosaurs from all parts of the globe. hence is the lengthy nature of the olympiad. for a shorter version, we have the world inter-continental team championship, where the best teams of the continents take part.
also chess is the only game, boasting of having the olympiad of its own. hence, mixing it with regular olympics, which has too many disciplines, chess will only lose its elite place.
as far as the future of indian chess is concerned, what is needed is sponsorship for the top indian players. once this is done, none can stop the indian avlanche. great indian corporate houses should come to the help of the aspiring indian champions.
