please keep out the dirty politics in our hockey team
by Shrikanta B S on Sep 03, 2004 11:27 AM

The article has come up really good. My good wishes to you on this part.

I think you can explain the total team performance in your feature articles. After watching the game till the mid night, I observed, the Indian team totally flopped in frontline as well as defending. We lost 2- 3 matches in last one minute due to poor defending that too against Australia. Most of case we played defensive hokey rather than attacking. The good attacking was seen against Australia when we scored 2 and 3rd goal.

My strong feeling to bring back the hokey to pride that, please keep out the dirty politics. Appoint a permanent coach (preferably foreign coach to avoid the biasing with in the team players)at least for an year and give him full rights.

Regards

Shrikanta B S

Time out for exchange of batton !!
by Lifeline on Sep 03, 2004 07:34 AM

Mr. K.P.S. Gill please pass on the batton to Mr. Dalmiya. It would be your great contribution to the service of the nation.

The nation will acknowledge your contribution of last 11 yrs. for braving the helms of IHF single handedly.

Please.... do not deprive a nation of 1 billion to regain its lost glory.

Good Luck.

Why do we need politics in games?
by Ashok on Sep 02, 2004 10:43 PM

Do you think politics in game will spare a good team for a long time? After the news from shahid, If that is true, then Indian hockey team manager & Co. should think of the players input too. A good stratergy always fails when you dont get complete efforts from the performers. This is very simple thing known by everyone in this field, Then why do you give space to EGO, Misunderstanding, Etc.

Getting a chance in Olympics is a acheivement in the history, why do people fool around with golden oppurtunity?

It doest not require somebody from the heaven to come and lead a victorious team, Please understand this is a pure team work game and everyone is considered equal in the team.

Dalmiya and Hockey
by Mehndi on Sep 02, 2004 10:41 PM

You know what I agree.
This is one of the most valid and actionable suggestion I have heard since our Olympic debacle. He should take over whole Olympic mess. If not wins and medals, he can probably infuse professionalism and money into other sports which may eventually lead to them.
Good idea, only to be seen squandered by petty politics, apathy and nepotism.

padmanaban subramanian
dalmiya & indian hockey
by padmanaban subramanian on Sep 02, 2004 09:54 PM

in one of the post msg from avinash he has suggested to handover the hockey to Mr dalmiya as if there will be alround improvement in the game. Perhaps the writer has fogotten it seems that the cricket which once reached its nadir, has shown its downward march ridiculously as can be seen under the captaincy of Ganguly - one win out of 14 finals.
What else is required? If hockey is also thrown into the hands of Mr Dalmiya, that game will also be shown the exit from India by other nations including Bangladesh & UAE, or even seychelles.
So, for heaven sake dont gift it to a novice and ruin it. Atleast our boys make up to 7th positions despite bad umpiring 7 lacklustre play. But MrDalmiya will take it to the 70th position if he heads the hockey helm. This is a poisnous test which should never be done. We donot want the game to reach the Calcutta maidans but patiala to reach the pinaccle. Well if it is the fate of the game to Mr dalmiya to enter the fray, all indian hockey lovers should preserve the matches played sofar by the hockey team sothat they willnot be deprived of genuiness and nuances of the game. Oh god, please save our hockey.

Indian Hockey

There are many aspects to India's defeat in the recent times.
1. Is the lack of team spirit, which extremely important.
2. The agression is clearly lacking as what we had many years back.
3. The most important reason is the money, the amount earned by the best player is peanuts when compared to the earning of an average cricketer.
4. Another reason is the lack of a good coach.
5. Lack of facilities, and below standard stadiums is also crippling them from getting better exposure.

If these problems are sorted out, we could very well have a world class team which can challenge the biggest of teams worldwide.

The present team is scared of the public in case they perform badly. We all need to support our team, encourage them to perform better. All the best Team India, you can do it.

Dalmiya to takeover Hockey Administration
by Avinash D\\\'souza on Sep 02, 2004 06:11 PM

It would be great to have Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya as the chief in Indian Hockey administration. he has proved himself to be a shrewd administrator and has seen several changes within the Indian cricket system. He has good business acumen too and if India achieves a bit of financial success in hockey, it could really do wonders for the game. I don't see why people won't pay money to watch a well hyped up India Pakistan game or for that matter any other game. See how cricket and football (more apt comparison) has been commercialized and we get an idea of the way forward for hockey.

Is anyone listening? Honorable Minister Mr. Sunil Dutt??
