F1 has become boring
by Nadeem on Nov 09, 2004 05:12 AM

Yeah, in the past few years. I used to watch F1 every sunday, live. Then I lost interest. There is not much competetion to the Ferrari team. Schumi wins most of the time. If you live in US, you should watch NASCAR or IRL. In IRL, the winner is unpredictable until the race finishes. Most of the times they need a replay of the finish to see who won. Its exhilarating! Too bad F1 sucks these days.

What Rossi did for Yamaha, Schumacher did it for Ferrari a long time ago, thought he results were not as instant or dramatic.

Comment on the Formula1 article

Michael Schumacher is not a fool to switch to Toyota and dig his own grave! He has built up the team Ferrari with hard work and consistent efforts since 1996, so everytime why should he bell the cat??? Valentino Rossi is young and can affort to take time philanthropically by switching teams and become popular. Moreover, formula 1 is more strategic and technological competition than a Motor GP. Driver is not the only person who wins the race, it includes a whole set of people who need to be very competent and that comes with long years of association. Dont you remember 1996, 1997 and 1998? when the world championship was too near to Schumi but it went too far...so I am asking all of you...is it fair to say that Schumi should retire? Is it his mistake that other teams arent focussing enough to win? Is it not legitimate to ask for returns of hardwork. I wish the author should have taken a broader perspective in doing this analysis. Thank you.

Who needs a spark?
by Viraj on Nov 07, 2004 12:33 AM

Hi,

I don't mean to be rude while commenting on this article. But I would like to share a few thoughts for the blissfully ignorant author. Most people (including this author) believe that MS invites yawns. Is this his mistake or of the other teams who simply can't compete (BMW and McLaren)? People say its easier to win in a Ferrari. Look back a few years, MS has brought Ferrari to where it is. I have seen MotoGP and F1 since I have been a kid (both on TV and live races), and its anybody's guess which is more arduous, so please stop comparing the sports (number of wheels do matter!). According to facts and figures, this year has been the best in terms of TV audience for F1. Its the media who cries about waning interest (and most of the so-called F1 experts are just couch potatoes who watch races on TV). How would they know about waning interests? And why should MS retire? Thats the most ridiculous comment I have heard, especially when a bloke is winning races? BTW, if Rossi would have kept winning in a Honda, would even he invite "yawns"? MS and Rossi are true champions, lack of competition is not their fault. Just savor their driving. And don't compare them!

How hard to please can you get?

I'm sick of hearing this tune being played over and over; though the comparison with Rossi is a new stanza.

Remember Jacques Villeneuve after he left Williams? Why would MS want to risk that after all the hard work hes put in at Ferrari to help it to where it is today. Joining Ferrari in '96 when it was down in the doldrums was about the biggest risk anyone in motor-racing had taken. And now you want him to join Minardi?

This season has been fantastic with BAR and Renault turning it into a 5-way battle.

The onus is on the other teams to beat Ferrari and it is inevitable.

Anyone who says F1 needs a shot in the arm is just being short sighted.

I do not know what you are talking about here...? really confused article... do u mean to suggest michael should have signed on with someone else like rossi did...? give the man a break... salute the champion... he is doing more good for F-1 stayin at ferrari and winning than you can probably imagine..
