Nice article from Raja. He does a real good job of reporting the race, making sure the readers are kept interested. This is high quality reporting, and I've followed F-1 since I was a kid, amongst the best I've come across.

The author of this article hasn't done his homework. I'm a die hard MS fan, but, 1. Dutch TV stations got hold of the actual car-to-pit radio transcripts for JPM. It turns out that Juan asked his Williams bosses if he should let Trulli past, and he was instead told to unlap himself from MS if he got the chance. That is the reason why he was so close to MS. He planned to jump him when the race went green. For once, JPM was not the villian, thought its difficult to understand why unlapping himself was so important.
Did this author know Jarno Trulli was born as "recent" as 1974 and that he has been in Formula One since 1997, which makes him a 7 year veteran of the sport and a 30 year "old" man in terms of a sport where "young" and "boy" are tags best suited for the drivers between the ages between 20 and 25. Please make sure you atleast read up on what you are planning to write on! And i certainly will not be praying for rain, for in the rain the "certain Mr.Schumacher" is virutally unbeatable. Or did you know that too?

You are very right. It seems the righter of this article has not seen the last years US Formula 1. It was an example set by Michael of how drive even quicker in the rain.
I really enjoyed the article. And the name he gave to J.P.Montoya, resident jerk, is very appropriate. Whether some one does anyhting to him or not, he has something to complain about or someone to grumble against after every race. But when he is at a fault, he conviniently looks the other way. Someone should tell him to grow up!
That's ridiculous !! This guy seems to have developed a rather intimate relationship with Schumi & leaves no opportunity to hate him & make matters difficult for him. God restore some sanity in his mind.
I think the column by Raja Sen illustrates the bias towards a certain Schumacher. Is this part of the common Indian trait to be fairweather friends and root for the winner rather than support one team/ driver no matter what their fortunes are? Any true F1 fan, and when i mean "true", i mean someone who loves the sport for what it was and not what it has become, knows that Team Ferrari is the anti-thesis of an F1 team with one Don and his "whipping boy" who changes every few years. I mean, isnt it sad to see Barrichello announce every march that he feels that "this is the year"..its worse than DC's proclamations. If you have the best car on the grid which Ferrari have been having the past 4 years, why dont you let your drivers fight it square? This reason has been enough to frustrate most F1-fans, me included, to view the sport as a debacle these days. For people like us, the race at Monaco comes as a breath of fresh air, a new winner and some real racing!! About Michael's accident, the Williams pit crew instructed Montoya to "unlap" himself from Michael so he could try getting near Barrichello who had not pitted yet. Thats the reason he was close behind MS so he could take him.

I think that's true of every sport where India does not do well (which sadly is almost every sport, except cricket mebbe). Most of us seem to pick the best and just decide to stick with them while trying to pull down every other competitor. It just made me grind my teeth in rage to see so many Indians at Indianapolis last year wear Tifosi garb. What made it even more maddening was to hear the conversations between two such members of the Tifosi who seemed to be completely unaware of what was going in. And then all you can hear from the likes of Steve Slater etc. is words like "a sea of red cheers for Ferrari". Ya right! Is it because the rise of F1,as a TV phenomenon (not just in India) coincided with the rise of "a certain Mr. Schumacher" (as this author exclaims so clichedly)? I don't hate Ferrari. I just hate to see ppl so self-righteously support a driver who in the past has caused a lot of trouble in the past and gotten away with minimum censure. Contrast that with JPM's drive through penalty last yr at Indy. Seems like whenever there is a close fight, there is an incident and someone goes scot free. And this was not just about last year. And you know who I am talking about!
