unfit gill
by anou on May 10, 2004 12:42 AM

nobody ever has anything positive to say about gill. he is just on a power trip and enjoys manipulating the hockey players. he is so insecure that he gets his kicks from instilling fear in the players. most teams are declared and fine tuning three months before the olympics. they are practicing as a team. gill wants to keep all the players on tenterhooks so they dont know if they are playing or not. how could they feel like a team and what confidence would they go into the olympics with. is this called preparation?

we dont deserve gill. he's destroying indian hockey.

Pillay's omission
by UMAKANT V HULYALKAR on May 09, 2004 10:06 PM

We must have a maximum of 2 or 3 tenures for all sports federation officials. Otherwise we have people like Gill running sports bodies like their personal fiefdoms. It looked as if India was regaining it's past glory is hockey. Instead of sticking to winning combination IHF has at every opprotunity messed up selection

Is Dhanraj past his best
by Ravi menon on May 09, 2004 12:12 PM

Dhanraj being rested for now and saving for Olympics. Gill is a man who "out thought" the Punjab terrorists and will do the same here. Watch this space. Come Olympics and Gill will claim that he has not had enough match experience.
I guess he thinks he is a smart guy....

Pillay thre 'Gem' - preserved in Cotton Wool!
by C.N.Shankar on May 09, 2004 05:06 AM

Because of my love for Hockey and anger for the omission of Dhanraj Pillay I took pains to read the long article. What did I find excepting unconvincing statements! Mr. Gill seems to have a steel grip on the Hockey Federation. He says he has received letters requesting the inclusion of 'retired players'.
He can go ahead and say he has received letters to include Dhyand Chand also. It does not cost more than one rupee to post a card and show that as proof for his statements. Let Mr. Gill call for a Spl. Press meet and anounce that Dhanraj will be going to the Olympics. Or else he could appeal to the public to send a complaint to the Sports Ministry by writing a post card. Let us see the response from Gill or the post cards!

Jokers
by Ramanathan on May 08, 2004 09:32 PM

Looks like IHF is full of jokers. His statements does not make sense since Pillay is not even in the probables list. Now they are trying to cover up the whole issue and appeasing others' in a different form. IHF should have clarity but unfortunately it lacks the same.

K P S Gill's manner of handling hockey administration
by Kanchan on May 08, 2004 07:52 PM

Mr K P S Gill should do not run the hockey federation like his personal property. This is a state body run by taxpayers money. An excellent player like Dhanraj Pillay should never be shunted out of the team which represent Indian citizes' hope and aspiration. Mr K P S Gill should not get into ego problem with senior players. He can learn effective sports administration from Jagmohan Dalmia, Suresh Kalmadi and the likes. Wish Mr Gill changes him for better.
