where's George Weah
by Phil on Nov 25, 2006 01:40 PM

Apparently the list of great footballers is based on world cup appearances. I am an African and I think it is dubious to George Weah out the list of football greats.

I don't think he is the best ever, but his achievements must also be acknowledged.

this is only a list of 20 players and everybodies view is different i think the list is very good, i think its disgraceful that bobby moore and eric cantona havent been included but it is near enough.

the greatest ever player is georgie best, he was gifted with everything any attacking player could ask for, it is difficult to compare between generations because of changing styles and cultures, ronaldo and zidane could never have played in best, pele and beckenbauers era because they would have been knocked away from the balls instantly but maybe they best&pele wouldnt be as succesful now because of higher fitness levels, this means players can only really be compared in respect to how good they were in their own era,

best is the greatest ever

Worlds greatest footballer

In my honest opinion there are so many wonderful footballers that have graced the pitch. Each era has seemed to produce a crop of talent. Pele was a great player, but for me not the best ever. To be a total footballer is the most important thing. The title is \"best player of all-time\", not best foward or best midfielder. Alfredo Di Stefano, Johan Cryuff, Zinedine Zidane show a total talent for the game. Which would you rather have? A foward with an ability to score at will, or a player who can pass with the precision of Zidane, score with the prowess of Gerd Muller, and defend with attitude of Maldini. If you chose B, you are going to have quite an acquisition on your hands. It is easy to attempt to be total, but being good at is the hard part. Even harder than that is doing consistantly for years. Di Stefano unfortunately never graced the green grass at the World Cup. The five consecutive European Cups is, by no stretch of the imagination impressive, but is overall play is the most jaw dropping subject. I respect Pele, Maradona, Best, Puskas, and all the other greats, but for me Di Stefano towers over all of them. Di Stefano is worlds greatest bar none.

how can you say that winning 5 consecutive european cups is not impresive no team can claim to have done better or even to have equaled that achievement and without de stefano it might never have happened

Greatest Footballer Ever

Maradona has something dubious about him..what with Hand of God et al...Pele stands for purity.
Where is the greatest controller Bergkamp?
a mention?...remember a match probably against brazil where he controlled an aerial pass with three defenders around him..i have never been so spellbounded..

Lightning Ronaldo

I guess in this very competative Soccer scenario - Ronaldo takes the spot for the World-best ever. His lightning speed is unstoppabe in an age where every defender is very fit. Football in its new facet is at its best. And the best in ths era is the best ever I guess. RONALDO. See him playing and you'll agree with me.

Greatest player
by phillip on Apr 13, 2004 07:00 PM

Dear sir/maam

During the days of Pele football or as said soccer
was not commercialised players used tp play fr dignity not fr money as soldiers save their country
as ex footballer I always resptected this game which is most famous in world fr win only.90 minutes this takes u real test fr strength n skill.

When Maradona entered in arena he was famous but not honured as black Peirl today.Alchaolism or Drug as as said by media for Maradona spoiled his carrer. He never served Argentina as national coach as Frenz Beckabauer had done.Today he is rated very low in vote at your end but fr me after black Peril He is gretaest as linkman/midfilder as coach

So if some one give me choice fr winner n runner up coz in finals we do always.

Always there is winner n runnnerrs up I will opt fr Pele as no.01 and Fernza backebauer as No.02

These two were orsome fr FIFA as part after so legenderies

Best Regards

Phillip
