Decision by IMG to come to Hyderabad has a significant implication to develop India as a sporting nation.S sports can be a major engine for growth.A comprehensive plan for developing sports in rural areas is an urgent task for the govt. and IMGB.Incidentally the word BHARATHA also has a meaning "to take responsibilty".The country and Andhra Pradesh particularly can look forward to a tremendous ptogress in sports arena.
The name of the project is IMG "BHARATA" - not IMG "India." I don't know about others, but to me that means something special . . . . I don't know . . . like people are actually discovering that we are the rich civilization of Bharata and not the backwards, desilate, stricken land that the word India signifies.
Finally !! I extend my welcome to all involved in this venture....let's get it going and spread around the country. Let's face it the talent & dedication is there is the Middle calls & lower middle class genre of society, cause if it was there it the higher income group - who already can get acess to such facilities - we would already have olympic champions. Just hope it's affordable to all who are interested!! otherwise ..otherwise.
It is very sad that Chandrababu Naidu's government was voted out of power even after he did a lot for the development of AP in general and Hyderabad in particular. It is heartening to note that the new govt did not come in the way of IMGBharata.
It is wonderful that IMG is setting up such a great complex in India. This is very much the need of the hour. Except for cricket, we hardly seem to have world-class facilities in any other discipline. I myself would love to play some sport though not ona professional level. I'm sure millions of middle-class Indians have aspired to take up tennis, badminton, swimming, football, badminton, etc. But the high cost, commuting distance and the meechanical lives of our cities have thwarted many of our hopes and dreams. I hope to see the Indian flag hoisted at medal cereminies in the Olympics in the future many, many times.
This is a fabulous news !! the bad thing about this is that it took an american to invest in such a field whereas the IOC / Indian govt should have done this & not now but atleast 25 years ago & not just in one city but in each zone of the country.
6 x $120mn = Rs3250 crores which is not a big amount considering it would be done over a period of 3-4 years. also had this been done 25 yrs ago it would have cost us say Rs500 crores & would have earned us so many medals by now.
