Why not empower the experienced football tournament organizers through out the country ?
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Jun 10, 2004 09:30 PM

If football has to make rapid progress and catch up with the best in the world our tested organizers across the country need to be empowered. In the past we had some fabulous tournaments that were able to identify quality players and provide them for national duty. The NFL matches have to be distributed among these various organizers who can make use of the infrastructure in their vicinity and revive interest among the spectators and players to be. The organizers of Kalinga Cup, Nizam, Scissors, Stafford, Chackola, TFA Shield, KFA Shield, Mammen Mappilai, Nagjee, Sri Narayana, Kolhapur's Sahu Memorial, Nayi Duniya, Bordoloi, Gangtok, Nagpur Rovers, DCM and such other tested, committed and experienced veterans have to be reanimated for the worthy cause. Interest has to be created from the grass root level for a steady supply of players year after year. The best way to do this would be to give a number of NFL matches to those associations who had to stop their annual tournaments with the arrival of the National Football League. The matter needs to be taken up on a war footing.
