Many of us felt former Dutch great Johan Cruijff did well in suggesting the name of Van Basten to the KNVB. As player Cruijff contributed a lot to modern football with his creative thinking and result-oriented play. There is something special in his reading of the game and that is what makes Cruijff's analysis so refreshing. Marco van Basten is a highly respected performer and his appointment as coach of the national team will add sharpness to the attacking skills of the enormously talented men in Orange. We wish Marco and his coaching staff all the best in their challenging mission ahead.
