Why rest the best???
by Manish Dholabhai on Jan 26, 2004 11:32 AM

When the team was going great, why disturb the chemistry???? Indians were really performing as a team, and their spirits were also very high, then why disturb the team??? It is beyond my understanding.

The losses at Azlan Shah Cup has again brought down the image of the Hockey in our country, which was really high when the team was winning.

for a long term project to prepare the players who would represent the nation,it is a good going. we got to begin somewhere to be ready to replace the aging players. but some of the players selected for the Azl. Tournament weren't up to the mark as I had seen them play in the Nehru and the Shastri tournaments. better choices were available. bet you selectors!

IHF is yet to be Professional towards their approach for the Senior National Team. This only possible only if our IHF Management which is managed by Oldies agrees to hand over the baton to New Generation

You get only what you deserve...not a peny more not a peny less

Time and again, I come across statements and articles, saying that cricket is getting more attention then due, thereby the entire quota spendings of corporate brand Ambasadors is being exhausted on cricket world itself. By saying this, hockey tries to prove that they are as good as cricketers, in winnnig and making us do proud, and they as well deserve some share of the pie, from the advertisers. Now, for the first time ( I am talking about Champions Trophy )in a long time, I saw this team doing fine, and trying to be a team, rather then few aloof individuals. All this made them covered in media, and lot many interviews were fired on various channels and mediums. I also saw few of these people, in TV ads. hat next, a disoriented team with more then 7 new international players, for Azlan Shah. And like always, very familiar results, India on bottom, or close to it.Now they say they were resting the senior LOT. As far as my knowledge goes,The senior most is still playing, no rest for him,Dhanraj, and rest of the bunch, which is quite young to play continously and rigourosly,is taking rest.MY knowledge also suggests me, that it has been a while they played some tournament,so why rest?

Ya I believe India should have taken there best team.
I don't understand why to take a second string team in a reputed tournament such as Azlan Shah.

Respect Indian Jersey

Resting the senior /junior players
by NSR MURTHY on Jan 16, 2004 04:58 PM

I totally agree with the policy of IHF. It is not necessary to send the best team to all the tournaments. The best should be for majors like WC,Olympics and Asian games. By sending new comers a message has been sent to all the youngsters that they can be called for duty at any time and need not wait for their turn till seniors retire or injured. A good move indeed. IHF is providing the oppourtunities at the right time so that the interest of the youngsters is maintained throught.By resting the seniors the message to them is clear not to take things for granted they will be in the team purely on the basis of their current performance.

Since Azlan Shah is very reputed tournamnet, We should have send our best team. Now, we are fininshing at the bottom, it will have adverse effect on leading players when they will play in future major tournaments like Olympics.
