The sports loving city of Kolkota has given the country three of the most valuable current sports personalities and leaders who are bringing laurels to India in this millenium. The high standards of Saurav and Leander are very useful chapters for Baichung and the footballers to learn from if they are to join in making India a world power in soccer. The city of Kolkota has a rich history, culture and tradition for sports. In the last century we saw some great sports figures like Chuni, Sailen, P.K.,Karmarkar, Bhowmick, Dastidar, Swapan, Surojit, Shyam Thapa, Nayeem, Akbar, Prasun and Habib. Not too long ago, we had the privilege of watching Prashanta, Sudip, Bidesh, Manoranjan, Tarun Dey, Bhaskar, the late Krishanu Dey and many others. Coach Shri Stephen Constantine and Baichung could try to draw some inspiration from the rich sports culture, history and tradition of Kolkota now kept very much alive by Saurav, Leander and the famous clubs at the Maidan .
