Our players don't retire ?

The above report does make one ponder over issues like retirement from hockey as well as other sports and games. Our sportspersons through extreme hardships and sacrifices come to the top and in reckoning for national duty at the international level. In most sporting events, the players can hardly gather sufficient financial resources for the rest of their lives during their short playing careers. Not all sportspersons have high qualifications to get into jobs immediately after retirement from sports. Such being the case the players are forced to subject their bodies to the inhuman demands of modern day sports. Our various sports associations need to become more professional in their outlook and provide our sportspersons adequate remuneration so that they can gracefully retire when the time comes. Our football, hockey, athletics, volleyball, basketball and other sports and games have administrators functioning as presidents, treasurers, etc. for decades who refuse to retire even when our teams reach abysmal depths. When it comes to issues like retirement, our sports administrators need to set good examples by retiring and offering the posts of responsibilities to the youngsters.
