tennis in india

yes, to me tennis looks an elitist game. Look how many can afford to play the game, unless he/she comes from an upper class family.

we just do not have the infrastructure - even a rich city like mumbai cannot afford to have tennis courts with not more than say 30-50 clubs having this facility, and who are the members- the affluent class and not the competetive class.

i do not see any reason why a city like mumbai cannot have atleast 2 big tennis clinics in each of its suburbs and that would be still only 1 court/one lac people - very meagre proportion indeed.

unless we have the basic infrstructure, hoping for tennis growth woould only be a distant and dismal dream.
