the 4*400 team of Manjit Kaur, Raj Kaur, Beenamol and Soman really did us proud. Especially the last leg by Manjit Kaur was great.
Thanks rediff for a good coverage. I m tempted to ask : why did you not keep us posted about india's progress in 4*400. about when they qualified for semis. were you just engrossed in the big names? Let me tell you they do not come any bigger than Manjit Kaur, Raj Kaur, Beenamol and Soman. a national record in itself is a great thing.
by the way there are eight qualifiers not six. this is really big. i think it all started with physically trained usha, valsamma, the two vandanas shanbhag and rao and ??? around 1982 asiad.
First, It was a great adrenlin pushing race. Now a q: Does anyone know what are the rules when our third leg player was pushed out of the field. If that had not happened, we might have finished ahead of Greece.
Dear Anju, It was really an astonishing performance from you at Athens in the final of the Long Jump. You did your very best and I am really happy. Though you could not fetch any of the medals for India but you did Take the name of India to the finals. Hope to see you come back with the GOLD in next Olympics. BEST WISHES TO YOU.
The relay team gave me something to cheer . the highlights i saw in nbc was great. chitra was almost pushed out of the field. but the girls ran a great race i think. they were in second position. i could feel my eyes wet to see them perform. just wonderful. it is great to be in the finals at this world stage among the best women and powerful, well trained. I think it is a great effort from these women with less exposure and support. I wish i was there in greek capital to cheer em up. Oh well. i would be happy to see them finish in the first three. may god bless these women to win and bring them and their country the fame. lovely effor ladies. just calm and conquering you would be if you perform in just one leg.
I saw this race and I feel between a Podium finish (Even Gold) and the Indian Quartet is Chitra Soman. Feel bad to say this but if there can be anyone else who can run better than Chitra, India can end up with any of the top medals.
The other three were simply dazling ... especially Manjit Kaur. Did she run in the 400m individual run?
