by venkateshwar reddy on Aug 26, 2004 02:08 PM

hello.........
Every time from past four years this has been said that we are planning for a big gold in the olympics and today we can see were we are ..we should now accept the fact that we are no more in the race for the top 5 position ...this is the fact and never in the future plz dont say that we are going to win a gold ..the past experience shows what we are...and were we are. A country with 105 crore population and not a single gold..........god save
us...............

Players were playing individually. There was no co-ordination among forwards. Except Dilip Turkey, defenders were not upto mark. Such players either should be sacked.

Spare a thought for these ...
by Ashutosh on Aug 26, 2004 10:38 AM

Do spare a thought for Dileep,Adrian,Viren and Vikram.

Lot has been said about our defence. But consider this.We had ZERO shots at goal against Pak, zero penalty corners against Australia.
Gagan trapping 1 out of 100 passes, Baljit slower than snail and Prabhajyot all at sea.

When forwards are hardly functioning very very difficult for defence to soak in the pressure for almost entire period.

hi friends

though i am sad to know the outcome of the match but to tell you all the truth,i am happy...!!
i am glad that we didnt turn a shameful defeat into a feat achieved...!!if we had won from pakis our reaction and welcome to the team would have been a candid one..

having mentioned that i am highlighting indian tendency of being contented with watever comes...!!

having lost to aussies and others we were now competing to finish 5th-6th..the same team..???
so by loosing, here we are...no where, and the saddest part is the repetition of same old mistakes...!!!
we must thank the poor keeper who alone was managing the defence when all the players were chasing ball like a dog follows a bone irrespective of saving his milk from the cat...!!

i have mentioned this before and will write this agin..plz let us work on our defence..!with the formidable defence wat we have any tean, for that matter even a school team can give the players a real run for money..!!

what these players need to realise is that when they are running around 100's and thousands of fans are glued to TV sets anticipating a good show..

please understand players,no company will sponser such a "team"

Yeah quite right, though off track on knowing where lies the problem. With the likes of Dilip and Viren, we are prety good in defence. Now the question comes, why we are letting these people win all the time. See understand one thing, every defence is good enough for a limited time schedule in a match. If Holland has a good defence, that means that their defence can defend VERY WELL for 30 minutes of ball in their D, Well enough for next 30 minutes, and pretty average for another 30 minute slot. This can also be explained by quoting history, the great English defence stood strong against germans in IInd world war, but then the defence was about to fall if things in the war have continued. So every good defence when tested for a longer time then planned, becomes week. Now coming on to a main problem, Our ball possession time is very low, our trapping has not been good in this tournament, thereby ball is more often then not with the opponenets, and this brings continous and rigorous attacks to our goal All through out in the match. Our forwards have the least ball possesion time then the forwards of other countries, which also brings constant pressure to our defence.
