Very indifferent.
by Sil on Aug 20, 2004 01:19 AM

It is cetainly quite disgraceful that Indian women in Olympics show positive results for drug testing. It is quite extraordinary that when Indian women struggle so hard to achieve success in whatever field they strive in....especially sports, there is so much controversy surrounding them. May such incidents decrease in the future or there might be a new adjective hanging behind the Indian women in Olympics. The Indian women in Olympics who were tested positive seem to be very indifferent toward their team and country. And maybe the authorities should take more painful efforts toward preventing such mishaps occur again.

Pratima,Chanu test positive

This is a disgrace to our whole country. This goes against the very spirit of Olympics. It stinks.Feels like some people who can exercise influence can go there.Am sorry to say that if these are the things that our sportspersons want to do than we should not send even a single person to the Olympics. Those who differ with me just see the medal tally.A country of Billion plus people and still a sorry state of affairs.Who says India is shining?

Pratima Kumari tests positive
by jks on Aug 19, 2004 10:50 PM

I think this is high time we should get rid of this joker kalmadi who is good for nothing. What is he doing as OIC head?? In last 10 years nothing significant has been achieved except some exceptions and what we are getting is disgrace to the nation all the time. If Kalmadi cannot know what happens below his nose, he is good for nothing and he should be sacked.
We should make some professional take his position to get results.

sad to see doping from an INDIAN...
by Ajay Morla on Aug 19, 2004 10:05 PM

We being the citizens of a nation whose population has croseed a billion, its very sad to discover that there's no search for talent. As long as this continues these things like doping will continue. I think that before the departure of the participants there should have been thorough checking of the diet, medicines taken and all the parameters which will enable the ones to pass these tests.Due to the ignorance of some facts and lack of proper Doctors these things are bound to happen.According to me,the IOC should take the responsibility of this event and from the next time onwards it should employ proper people for these events.I mean that instead of giving chances for those who made it once they should opt for the ones who can deliver. There's a lot of difference in saying-i can and i will. The IOC should keep this in mind. And also the politics of money and kith and kin's participation based on recommendations should also be decreased to nil.The dream of INDIA winning the medals tally in double digit is the one we all are hoping. If the points i made above are considered by atleast some IOC members am sure that this will not be a dream but a confirmed reality.Let's hope it'll happen.

by Prasanna Kumar on Aug 19, 2004 04:43 PM

It is really unfortunate that being the chief coach, Pal Singh Sandhu, speaks in such a fashion. What ever is the truth he should accept it.

A shame to our country
by Clear on Aug 19, 2004 03:19 PM

Hi all,
Its a shame to our country to have such a sportsperson. We should ban her in taking part in any other events.
And for Rediff, Do not justify her stand that there are 5 others with her. Point out clearly that she is a cheat.

Bye
