I watched your final performance on the day you won the Silver Medal at the Athen Olympics and, believe me, it was a fantastic performance. I was only saddened that you could not win the gold. However, winning a medal at an Olympic event is something great. Thereafter, I expected that you would be given a rousing welcome in India. Sadly, these sort of welcomes are only reserved for cricketers, because cricket is the BE ALL AND END ALL of Indian sports. It is sad that Indians do not realise that there are many, many sports that are not only of short duration, but are international recognised and are are very much exciting and to use your words "action-oriented".
However, for me you are a true hero and I am glad that the Indian Army is going to do everything not only to spur you to great heights, but also train other marksmen from the Services as well as the Civilian field.
I am living outside India. I watched live on TV Maj. Rathore winning the silver medal. I felt so proud and my chest expanded -- literally- seeing him on the podium. I pray that many more Rathore's emerge. I also hope that I can contribute to developing non-cricket sports in India.
It is awesome to see an Indian winning a medal in Olympics.... more over i feel great to see my Countries name in the list of countries who won the medals.. And Thanks to Major Rathore who made every single Indians desire come in true... I wish Dr Gayatri Rathore and all his family members helped Rathore achieving this great ????(I don't know what to say!!!!!!!! ) My salute to Major Rathore and Family
I am really happy that an India won this medal at the olympics. Congrats!. But I did not like one of Dr. rathod's statements. " Even though my mother-in-law is a housewife and teacher, she is an achiever" ... Why are Housewifes (i prefer homemakers) and Teachers not achievers?
It is this attitude that we need to throw out of our windows. I expect it atleast from a DOCTOR (whether of medicine or Research)
Chakra not liking Dr. Rathod's statement.

I don't like chakra's comment. Dr. Rathod was gracious enough to grant an interview. There is no need to analyse each and every statement Major Rathod, his wife, or his gharwalas make.
