This is all crap. We all know where will all this big talk lead to. Early EXITS!! we have seen this before too. I think its a problem with Indian Olymic Committee. With all the funds going to cricket, they r totally failure in generating funds for sports other than cricket. With Govt apathy too Olymics and India isnt getting any closer. Something is terribly wrong or how could a nation with 100 million win just 1 bronze in the biggest event of sports!
best of luck to anjali ved pathak bhagwat for the 28th olympic events.she had worked remarkably hard to pick up the probable gold medal. i think she is desperate to win a gold. i know anjali you are efficient and you can do it. do strong your nerve.Best of luck and come with not less than a gold.
hi dear anjali i have the confidence that u will win the gold in athens olympics. may that god give the power to beat all ur opponents in the olympics and to win the gold for our mother india . ok have a nice olympics. win and come urs fan shiva
Wishing Anjali the very best. She has done wonderfully, albeit individually (not with much support from the govt), and that is what happens in our country unfortunately. India as a country does not deserve a medal (for the neglect from the government for sports), but Anjali is a special person, surely deserves Gold. Hope my tongue proves lucky for her.
Rather than focussing on individual events that bring loads of medals (swimming, diving, gymnastics, weightlifting, wrestling, Judo, Shooting and Athletics) our administration is still aiming for that one medal that our hockey team will (when?) bring, after 24 years. Its time we focus on the individual events to put ourselves into medal contention.
Anjali Bhagwat's story is all the more remarkable since shooting is a sport which not only gets no help from the Government but is actively discouraged by all agencies.
Even today, getting an arms licence for a fire-arm is next to impossible. Maharashtra State is one State with a policy to grant licences to target shooters. The EXIM policy restricts the import of all fire-arms including sports fire-arms. Import of airguns have just been allowed but that too only by the top 25 shooters.
Although import of airguns was allowed as baggage, Mumbai Customs started confiscating airguns. Only recently this has been set aside by the Appekate Commissioner and the review Panel.
All the Government needs to do is to remove import restrictions on target fire-arms and ammunition and see how the Indians perform. Expecting this from Government is ofcourse wishful thinking.
