its very sad that the indian olympic association is still undecided about the flag bearer for india in athens.this controversy created and fueled by the IOA will only serve to create a sort of rift between the eligible and deserving members of squad in athens. i think that most sports loving people in india would like to see dhanraj pillai to hold the tricolor in ATHENS.
How many athletes do we have to choose from for the honour? The choices could be narrowed down to a select few - Malleswari, Bhupathi or someone from the Hockey team like Gagan Ajit or Dilip Tirkey. Malleswari should get it.
ok this is too hilarious. i mean we are more worried about who will hold the flag than about the actual performance of our athletes. a serious set of warped priorities. i used to run for Mumbai, and was considering training full time. but our system is not al all helpful to fresh young talent. i might have made my choice if it is were, but i saw others around me, who were seriously talented athletes, drop out because of red tape, coaches being too political etc. i know its a oft repeated cliché - why cant a country of a billion produce at least one set of consistent medal winners? the answer might lie in the way we set our priorities. why cant we just pick a name out of hat to carry the flag? seriously, is it the medals we want, or is it the politics? why make such a big deal of it all??!!

I think cricketer Rahul Dravid would be the appropriate person as flag-bearer coz he has won padmashri award and also he was voted youth icon of the year 2004 by mtv. so it wud be fine if u select him as flagbearer and also there is lot of criticism about cricket game in india, coz everyone says cricket is being given lot of hype than any other sports in india. so rahul dravid can prove it's wrong and he can lead the whole indian contingent. he can be there as guest and can return home. goodluck india!
Just like movie actors were picked to handle the torch [and people (especially misnisters) failed to see a problem with that], I think we should make an exception and request sridevi or madhuri dixit to hold the flag for the olympic. Indian role in olympics is a drama anyway ;). ------------------------ It might sound sarcastic, but I request the editor to publish this opinion so that people could see the flaw in our system.
