This itself is great performance. She is placed sixth in world ranking and was positioned fifth if this is not improvement it is atleast maintaining that position which itself is great job. i think we can hope consistency and better performance from Anju. All the best Anju!!
How many Indian athletes have placed fifth in the world in any event? Getting a medal is certainly an achievement to aim for, but the Indian press seems to be focussed only on this. Was it realistic for Anju to be on the podium this time? Perhaps yes, but is fifth really a "disappointing" performance? What was her ranking going in to these games? It is with respect to that that her performance should be termed "good" or "bad". If she improved on her earlier standing it is an "excellent" performance.
