hai viren' i'm a young hockey aspirant i'm from TN.i play hockey 4r my school&i'm a center-half like u.i'm one of those youngstars who aspire 2 play 4r INDIA.what is lacking here is i don't get much exposure to play in turfs.in fact great players like senthil who is in junior camp hail from my home town coimbatore.i've played alongside him in junior tournaments.i'm really proud to see him play for india.we,here try 2 promote hockey in this region&in fact we've started a club whose main aim is 2 encourage young rural children 2 play hockey.i really admire ur game.when i first heard about u i thought ha! here's is another so called efficient center-half playing for india but later i realised u really deserve that place kudos to viren!!!.u&i together let's revive Indian hockey.i'm very passionate about this game b'cos it's MY LIFE,as u said "my life is for hockey". St Iginistus of Lyola will help you to climb up the ladder. Earlier we had Olympics hockey player head from St Stanislaus High School and you will be amongst the midst next I pray for all the best and God will help you to do the rest.
To increase the standard of Indian Hockey we have to build atleast one international astro turf hockey stadium (with good management) in every state.And have lots of Domestic competition .This way people will start seeing hockey thru which money will come bettring the game itself. We have less than 20 astro turfs in our country compare to netherlands which has more than 450.How can u compare two teams and expect Indain Hockey team to perform against them?? Conclusion - Create quality Infrastrucure for hockey.See the results in less than 5 yrs....

mumbai have always produced some of the best stuff -the lot of carvalho, jude felix, diago, cedric, merwyn, and heaps of others. unfortunately, mumbai players are not given their due and longevity. An exception has been Dhanraj - and that again speaks of the versatilty and quality that all mumbai players possess thro. Dhanraj.
Keep up the fantastic work Dhanraj and Viren. Hope some mumbai players make the indian team.

This is probably one of the best interviews - right interviewee, relevant questions and candid answers. It definitely provides information that any serious Indian hockey lover would like to know. Why can't the government spend more money on additional astroturf grounds when that is the most important piece in the development of the game and a player to international level. This should be top priority and work should commence ASAP!!!
