The memories remain
by Arnab on Apr 08, 2003 01:58 AM

He was unarguably one of the few world class footballers India had ever produced. Bobby Robson, on his visit to India as coach of PSV Eindhoven, echoed similar views.

When he started out, he was more of a play-making striker. He used to make runs with the ball; easily dribbling his way past defenders but when the oppostion began to crowd him out, he became an out and out playmaker; one of the very best at that. The only weakness in his football was perhaps his slight built that led to many a injuries though he drew a lot of fouls. The master soon adjusted his game by abandoning his with-the-ball runs and adopted a style similar to that of the Colombian great- Carlos Valderamma. Deft touches, dazzling ball control, body dodges, snap turns and defense-splitting precision passing, impeccable positioning. He soon became the general of the mid-field.

The memories remain.

VERY SAD INDEED.
by gopal on Mar 26, 2003 08:13 PM

I am really sad after coming to know of the sad demise of one of my beloved footballers. He was really a maverick with his superb dribbling skills and incisive runs.

Its really sad that the death of such a footballer who enthralled thousands of soccer fans is not highlighted by the Media which gives too much publicity to cricketers. Its really a shame. Its no wonder why sports other than cricket are not growing in India as we would like to.

Krishanu Dey's passing away
by Udayan Bhattacharyya on Mar 22, 2003 01:58 AM

To people like me who saw first hand, how he weaved his magic with his left foot, football will not be the same. He was a player of rare class, skill and beauty. He was truely the last home grown superstar of Indian soccer. Sad, that he was born in India, otherwise he would have made big in the international scene.

Every foreign team played against the club he represented and as a matter of fact India, voiced the opinion that he was really world class.

Krishanu, we will miss your deft touches, turns, laser like through passes, and the lazy elegence you personified on and off the filed. To us, you will always be alive through the wonderful memories and entertainment you provided us for so many years.

May your soul rest in piece, and our heartfelt condolences to your bereived family.

So disappointing
by Brahma on Mar 22, 2003 12:00 AM

It is such a pity that in this country we fail to honour any sportsman other than a Cricket Player. Wonder if many people even know him. I see thousands of comments posted even for a small Cricket article but when one of the legendary football player parts with his life there are none.
Krishanu was undoubtedly one of the best football player India has seen or produced. Our heart goes out to hear the sad news. May his soul rest in peace.

Krishanu Dey, One must say was one of the best ever players that Indian Football has produced. His Silken touches and the defence splitting passes remain etched in Memory. In his lifetime playing for India, he has created so many happy moments for us. He was the 'Carlos Valderrama' of Indian Football.

May his soul rest in peace, and god be with the family he has left behind.

Exteremely sad
by Anandaroop Bhattacharya on Mar 21, 2003 03:52 AM

It is a very sad day in the history of Indian football. One of its brightest sons ever had to die at such a young age. Krishanu's footwork was impeccable that fooled all his opponents and won appreciation of even foreign coaches and players (Bochum, PSV Eindhoven .....) He will remian in the hearts of thousands of soccer fans in India forever. May his soul rest in peace. My deepest condelences to his family!
