For a nation that once qualified for the World Cup Finals, there sure has been a dizzying drop from the top. Wonder where we'll land... for now we seem to be headed for the bottom of the heap, bracketed with the likes of Papua New Guinea and Sao Tome et Principe. What the team requires (Desperately) is the following: 1. Dedicated & Honest Administration (may be a little too much to ask in a country where chai-paani is the norm) 2. Not just on foreign coach at the top, but an entire team of foreign coaches at all levels (I wonder if we can afford that sort of thing, especially when most of the precious little that is there finds its way into private allocations) 3. International Exposure... For how long are we going to keep playing our neighbours with limited footballing potential like Bangladesh (and even losing to them)? Let India play even one match with, say, the English national team. Then, and only then, will we see how pathetic our standards are. (I dread to think of the thrashing that wud be handed to them, 19-0 or 25-0, who can tell).
