Martina's announcement
by R. Srikanth on Feb 08, 2003 10:13 PM

Dear Sir,

It is sad that one possibly won't get to see talented Martina on court again. I appreciate her clarity of thought in making her decision, which may not have been easy, considering that she has been among the best in tennis, and being at peace with her decision and with her life after sport. It is remarkable that she could be so dedicated to her performance while in the sport, and yet possess the mental strength to become detached when the time to go beyond beckoned her. Not many people whose profession puts them in the public spotlight, like top sportsmen, can do it so easily and so gracefully.

Sincerely,
Srikanth

It is really sad that we shall never be able to see Martina Higis play, moreso because she had a lot of years of high quality tennis left in her. But for the injury, spectators all over the world would have been enthralled for a lot more years.

Anyhow, life goes on and i wish Martina all the very best in all her future endeavors.
